We realize that unexpected needs arise that require extra support and when this occurs we offer the opportunity to the congregation to help fund these opportunities through a “Relief Offering.” Relief offerings help fund specific needs and unforeseen disasters.

LOPC Responds to venezuela earthquakes
On June 24, 2026, Venezuela experienced two powerful back-to-back earthquakes. PDA is coordinating an emergency response with local partners and the Latin America and Caribbean forum of ACT Alliance. Emergency response includes shelter, food, medicines, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and more.
LOPC, through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), is responding to urgent humanitarian needs after Venezuela recently experienced back-to-back earthquakes.
Emergency grants are already being distributed to meet immediate needs like shelter, water, food, and hygiene items. The destruction is significant, it will take years to recover and throughout the work PDA will be there, supporting humanitarian efforts while recognizing the fragile situation the people of Venezuela have been and will continue to face in the coming years.

God of mercy and hope,
We come to you with a broken heart for our siblings in Venezuela. In the
midst of the pain caused by earthquakes, we turn to you, our firm rock, when
the earth itself shakes. Lord, move our hearts so that solidarity is not
temporary. It raises churches, communities and people willing to walk with
the Venezuelan people during the long process of recovery and
reconstruction. May compassion be stronger than indifference and may hope
prevail over discouragement. Amen
