Special Offering
LOPC is committed to serving others locally, nationally, and around the world with financial support as well as with sweat equity. We realize that partners often have unexpected needs arise that require extra support and when this occurs we offer the opportunity to the congregation to help fund these opportunities through a “Special Offering.” Special offerings help fund specific needs and unforeseen disasters.

easter special Offering: Atfaluna and Stand!
On Easter morning, we proclaim that death does not get the final word. Violence does not get the final word. Trauma does not get the final word. Resurrection does.
This year, our Easter Special Offering invites us to participate in that resurrection hope by supporting two mission partners who walk daily with people recovering from trauma, globally and locally.
The first is Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children. For more than two decades, our congregation has supported students there. Today, in the face of ongoing conflict, displacement, and uncertainty, access to holistic rehabilitation and psychological support services is essential to daily life and to upholding human dignity.
The need is urgent. Following the recent war, more than 53,000 people in Gaza have suffered partial or total hearing loss, according to an Atfaluna study. Many now face isolation and barriers to communication. Access to hearing aids and rehabilitative care is critical for daily life, family connection, and social inclusion. Through its work strengthening resilience and expanding access to these services, Atfaluna offers stability, dignity, and hope in the midst of trauma.
We also support STAND! For Families Free of Violence, the only comprehensive family violence reduction agency in Contra Costa County. Domestic violence and child abuse often occur together in families, and STAND assists more than 10,000 clients each year through prevention, intervention, and treatment services designed to end the cycle of violence and rebuild lives.
Our goal this year is to raise $20,000.
When we give, we participate in resurrection. We become part of God’s work of restoring lives and renewing hope. Let us give generously, trusting that love is stronger than violence, and new life is possible.
