Classes and Tuition

AN EMERGENT, PLAY-BASED CURRICULUM APPROACH

Classes and Tuition at Seedlings Preschool

At Seedlings, we foster children’s development by using a play-based, child centered approach while still offering a daily schedule filled with opportunities for children to learn. We utilize learning areas such as free play, art, science, literacy, math and circle time. True curriculum for children comes from everything they experience. We emphasize the process rather than the product. Our teachers design developmentally appropriate activities which ensure the child’s success in attempting and accomplishing new tasks. Our goal is to build a sense of belonging, competency and self-reliance with a special emphasis on building problem solving skills and self-esteem.

Beginning in the Nursery (Sweet Peas), each child learns to trust others and overcome separation anxiety. With each passing school year, teachers expand and develop these basic skills and knowledge further, culminating with our Pre-Kindergarten Program. When children leave Seedlings, they have gained appropriate classroom behavior, social skills, a love of learning and self-confidence.

Wonder Time

SPIRITUAL FORMATION AT SEEDLINGS

Wonder Time at Seedlings Preschool

Wonder Time is our faith component that we offer our preschool aged children during the school day. It is a special program designed specifically for our 3, 4, and 5 year olds. The children gather with Wonder Time leaders from Seedlings and Children’s Ministry to sing songs and learn about that month’s virtue through a Bible Story. Seedlings’ monthly virtues coincide with those presented each month through LOPC’s Children’s Ministry. Each class is offered various experiences such as: music & movement, stories, mission opportunities and outreach projects. This spiritual formation time will be age and developmentally appropriate for all children and very respectful of each family’s religious background.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and talk with us.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Updated February 2, 2022

We are continually updating our processes and protocols in accordance with the most recent Community Care Licensing and CDC guidance.

There will be a required onsite Daily Health Check for all staff and families before coming into school. Additionally, students will receive a health check throughout the day in their classroom. Each staff member,  and student will  undergo a visual health check before being admitted into school.

Only students and staff will be allowed in the Seedlings Preschool building. Drop-Off and pick-up will take place at designated outside areas depending on your child’s class.

CDC recommended hygiene and handwashing procedures will be emphasized in the classrooms.
Each group will remain in consistent groupings with consistent staffing with a daily group size of no more than sixteen students and two teachers, or as mandated by the Contra Costa Department of Public Health should group sizes change.

Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high touch surfaces will occur throughout the day, including but not limited to: toys, door knobs, bathrooms (including sinks & toilets) and outdoor surfaces (climbing structure, railings, handles, edges, ride on bikes).

Our highest priority is the health and wellbeing of our families and staff. In order to limit the opportunity for transmission to our community we will continue to stay up-to-date on our counties policies and follow all mandated protocols.

Registration Process

Registration for our school year program is processed in the following order:

First, we register those families currently enrolled in our Seedlings program, followed by their siblings (not currently enrolled). Then, we finish registration in this order:

  • LOPC Members
  • Families on our current school year waiting list, which closed in January
  • Community Members

Currently Enrolled Student Registration – 2022-2023 School Year Program

Current Seedlings Families will register their students in February for the following school year.

Registration is done by priority numbers for those currently enrolled in the Seedlings program. Children of Seedlings/LOPC staff are accommodated first, then children of Board Members. Priority is then determined by family enrollment dates-the date which your oldest child first began at Seedlings (you must be continuously enrolled). When families have the same family start date, church members are served first and then a lottery system is used to assign numbers.

If you wish to register a sibling of a child who is currently in the program they will be registered after all children in the program are served, based on your priority number.

LOPC Member Registration

An LOPC member has completed the required membership class and is currently in the LOPC membership database.

Registration for members of the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church will be online. Registration will be done on a first come, first served basis. Interested LOPC member families should email the Seedlings office  seedlings@lopc.org for registration instructions. If  your child’s age eligible class is full they will be placed on the waiting list for a $50 application fee. If there are openings we will contact you to complete the registration process.

Community Member Registration

Community Member Registration is for families that are NOT currently enrolled in our program, registered on our ‘21-’22 waiting list, or a current member of the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC). Registration will be done online on a first come, first served basis beginning on Wednesday, March 2nd. Please complete the online application here.

Important Registration Guidelines

  • Space in all Seedlings classes is limited and may be filled by current Seedlings children and their siblings. If a space is not available at the time you register, you will be placed on the wait list for a $50.00 nonrefundable fee (this will be applied towards the annual $250 registration fee if you are placed in the program during that school year).
  • If you have questions please contact the Seedlings office by emailing us. Thank you for your cooperation!
