AN EMERGENT, PLAY-BASED CURRICULUM APPROACH

Classes and Tuition at Seedlings Preschool
Preschoolers enjoying the sandbox!

At Seedlings, we foster children’s development by using a play-based, child centered approach while still offering a daily schedule filled with opportunities for children to learn. We utilize learning areas such as free play, art, science, literacy, math and music. True curriculum for children comes from everything they experience. We emphasize the process rather than the product. Our teachers design developmentally appropriate activities which ensure the child’s success in attempting and accomplishing new tasks. Our goal is to build a sense of belonging, competency and self-reliance with a special emphasis on building problem solving skills and self-esteem.

Beginning in the Nursery program, children begin to build trust in others and overcome separation anxiety. As they progress through each school year, teachers enhance and refine these foundational skills and knowledge, culminating in our Pre-Kindergarten Program. By the time children graduate from Seedlings, they have developed appropriate classroom behavior, social skills, a passion for learning, and a strong sense of self-confidence.

There are limited openings for the CURRENT 2025-2026 school year program

In our toddler class, we provide opportunities for developing fine motor skills through creative activities. This approach helps children enhance their self-awareness, build confidence, and foster their decision-making abilities.

We currently have openings in toddler and preschool programs.  Please email our office for more information: coleen@lopc.org

Spiritual formation at seedlings

WONDER TIME

A dedicated faith program we provide for our preschool-aged children once a month. This special initiative is tailored specifically for our young learners. During Wonder Time, children come together with leaders from Seedlings and LOPC’s Children’s Ministry to sing songs and explore the month’s virtue through engaging stories.

The virtues presented align with those highlighted each month at LOPC. Each class offers a variety of enriching experiences, including:

  • Music and movement
  • Storytelling
  • Mission opportunities
  • Outreach projects

This spiritual formation time is designed to be age-appropriate and developmentally suitable for all children while being respectful of each family’s religious background.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and speak with us.

Registration

If you are interested in registering your child  for the 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAM please complete the online interest form: Seedlings Registration Application

Registration questions? email coleen@lopc.org

Registration Process

Registration for our school year program is processed in the following order:

First, we register those families currently enrolled in our Seedlings program, followed by their siblings (not currently enrolled). Then, we finish registration in this order:

  • LOPC Members
  • Families on our current school year waiting list, which closed in January
  • Community Members

Currently Enrolled Student Registration

Current Seedlings Families will register their students in February for the following school year.

Registration is done by priority numbers for those currently enrolled in the Seedlings program. Children of Seedlings/LOPC staff are accommodated first, then children of Board Members. Priority is then determined by family enrollment dates-the date which your oldest child first began at Seedlings (you must be continuously enrolled). When families have the same family start date, church members are served first and then a lottery system is used to assign numbers.

If you wish to register a sibling of a child who is currently in the program they will be registered after all children in the program are served, based on your priority number.

LOPC Member Registration

An LOPC member has completed the required membership class and is currently in the LOPC membership database.

Registration for members of the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church will be online. Registration will be done on a first come, first served basis. Interested LOPC member families should email the Seedlings office  seedlings@lopc.org for registration instructions. If  your child’s age eligible class is full they will be placed on the waiting list for a $125 application fee. If there are openings we will contact you to complete the registration process.

Community Member Registration

Community Member Registration is for families that are NOT currently enrolled in our program, registered on our current waiting list, or a current member of the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC). Registration will be done online on a first come, first served basis beginning in February.

Important Registration Guidelines

  • Space in all Seedlings classes is limited and may be filled by current Seedlings children and their siblings. If a space is not available at the time you register, you will be placed on the wait list for a $125.00 nonrefundable fee.
  • If you have questions please contact the Seedlings office by emailing us.
