Smartphone

Electronic Device Tutoring for Seniors

September 11 a.m., Oak Room

Want to learn more about the features of your Smartphone? A senior Athenian School computer science expert will lead us to proficiency. Bring your cell phone for hands-on training. Please RSVP with your questions so these sessions will go smoothly. Come anyway if you don’t have questions. Refreshments will be served. Save the dates for an October 2 tutorial for your tablet and a November 6 tutorial for your computer.

Community life groups

Community Life Small Groups Starting Soon!

Join one of our Community Life small groups this program year to explore themes of faith, mercy, and kindness. This year’s selected studies continue LOPC’s goal toward inclusivity and diversity. Delve deeply into community and grow in your faith this season. Groups launch in September.

Women’s Bible Study

Beginning September 15, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Davies Room

Join Pastor Jaime Polson every other Thursday evening to discuss Wholehearted Faith by Rachel Heard Evans. Through theological reflection and personal recollection, the author wrestles with God’s grace and love, looks unsparingly at what the Church is and does, and explores universal human questions about becoming and belonging.

The program will kick off with an optional social gathering on September 7 at 6:30 p.m. at The Cooperage in Lafayette. Please email Lexi Morrissey to register.

Join Pastor Jaime Polson for this 6-week study to gain an informed commitment to Paul’s vision of God’s relationship to both Christians and Jews and to their relationship to each other, thanks to the “love of God in Christ Jesus.”

This is a 90-minute, community-oriented program exploring how we think and talk about suicide. It addresses suicide as a major community health problem and steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of suicide

Soul Shop for Leaders

Soul Shop for Leaders

Friday, October 21, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This training is a one-day training to equip leaders of faith communities including pastors, paid and unpaid church workers, and those who are passionate about doing ministry to those who are desperate due to any type of experience with suicide. The training includes the creation of worship resources, training congregation members in suicide awareness, basic conversation skills, and an invitation to those who have been suicidal in the past to share their stories. Cost: $50.00.

There is a $150 suggested donation to our Flower Fund to sponsor an arrangement.

New Member Class - Winter 2022

New Member Class – Winter 2022

The New Member class provides an opportunity to meet the pastoral staff and explore church membership at LOPC. We discuss what it means to be Presbyterian, learn about the history and vision of LOPC, and how to have a meaningful membership.
